Robert Head is a Licensed Massage Therapist and Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher.  He received his initial bodywork training from the National Holistic Institute in Emeryville California in 2006 after more than a decade of experience as Personal Trainer.  He began his bodywork practice at Wu’s Healing Center, one of San Francisco’s foremost clinics of Traditional Chinese Medicine with a focus on fertility, where he performed bodywork for women during all stages of pregnancy from pre-conception to post-partum.  He also provided massage in Chiropractic settings and fitness facilities before opening his private practice

In 2008, Robert opened Bodywork Balance, offering therapeutic massage and bodywork in Sacramento CA. During this time, Robert extended his foundational training in Myofascial Therapy with a number of teachers.

He found his passion in Craniosacral Therapy, studying at the Upledger Institute where he continues to take advanced courses.  In 2013, Robert began his training to teach Pilates, and is certified through Balanced Body and the National Pilates Certification Program.

As his practice in Sacramento flourished, Robert worked with athletes, fitness buffs, working professionals, and weekend warriors. He worked with people recovering from illness and injury and successfully helped clients through the process of knee replacement and shoulder surgeries.

Now, Robert combines bodywork and movement to help people  move freely with confidence and without pain.   His clients have found relief from migraine headaches, fibromyalgia, and other chronic pain conditions.  He also works with people to improve postural imbalances and to counterbalance the daily activities that cause stress and dysfunction.

The demands of a successful practice require Robert to live as he teaches. He has nurtured his own health through a network of massage therapists, craniosacral therapists, chiropractors and Pilates teachers.  For nearly two decades he has maintained a daily movement and meditation practice. His health and fitness regimen includes Qi Gong, Pilates, and the gym.

Robert relocated Bodywork Balance to Portland in 2022 and loves contributing to our dynamic and diverse community.
